Description:
William Mattar, P.C. is a growing law firm whose focus is on motor vehicle accident injury cases. The firm's home office is located in Williamsville, NY servicing areas in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany.

The Attorney handles client cases from the initial client meeting through resolution or until judicial relief is required to resolve the case.

* Extend outstanding customer service to clients
* Establish and maintain professional relationships with staff, colleagues, and management
* Draft and compose documents such as appellate briefs, trial motions, pleadings, inter-office memoranda
* Perform other firm related research as necessary
* Meet with new or prospective clients in person in company office, hospital, client’s home or other locations and/or by telephone for consultation
* Counsel clients and evaluate their cases upon initial contact and throughout their case
* Evaluate police accident reports, citations issued, witness statements taken at scene, photographs, and other police investigation materials
* Initiate private investigation based on case need and evaluate results to further clients’ cases
* Update clients on case progress, offer advice, and obtain medical treatment status
* Draft, review, and revise correspondence to clients, insurance carriers, medical providers and others – including correspondence regarding complex medical diagnoses and treatment
* Advocate for our clients with representatives of insurance carriers to negotiate the best possible results
* Attend recorded statements, examinations under oath, and other hearings between our clients and other interested parties
* Cooperate with supervising attorney in case assessment including need for litigation
* Effectively utilize case management software to manage workload, document all work, and communicate with firm employees
* Be available approximately one evening per week and two weekend days per month to answer calls from prospective clients
* Facilitate lien resolution upon settlement of case
* Process Pre-Settlement funding with various funding companies at clients’ request
* Attend and participate in training for continued professional growth and development.
* Participate in special projects as assigned by firm management
* Participate in administrative firm meeting as necessary
* Other duties as assigned


Required Experience:
Experience
• Prior judicial clerkship experience preferred
• At least one year of experience in a personal injury law firm or one year experience in the insurance industry handling personal injury claims or equivalent experience
• Experience with computers and related software applications including Microsoft products
• Excellent understanding and application of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct
• Excellent understanding of all Statutes of Limitation
• Excellent understanding of the CPLR, No Fault Regulations, various auto and property insurance coverage and endorsements including: Bodily Injury/Liability (BI), Collision, Supplemental Underinsured/Uninsured Motorists (SUM/UM), Motor Vehicle Accident Indemnity Corporation (MVAIC), Premises Liability, as well as relevant sections of New York’s General Obligations and Municipal Law
• Excellent understanding of Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and codes
• Thorough understanding of liens applicable to personal injury settlements, findings or verdicts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to adapt and respond to changing demands
• Self-motivated and goal oriented
• Ability to type at least 35 words per minute


Required Education:
Education
• JD degree from an ABA accredited Law School
• Admitted to practice law in New York State
